Imam Hasan Centre Cooking Competition 2008
 
The 2nd annual cooking competition took place on Saturday 28th June to celebrate Wiladat of Bibi Fatima(A.S.). This year, the category was Chicken entrees and dry finger food. There were nearly 40 entries, and $250 was raised for charity. Photos coming soon
The prize winning entries were:
1st prize:              Tibetan Momos                     Sister Irem Hasan
2nd prize:              Reshmi Kebabs                     Sister Bushra Rehan
3rd prize:              Chicken Pesto Involtini             Sister Zohra Aly
Consolation:          Chicken Bulbs                      Sister Sarwath Akbar
 
The competition was very ably judged by Sister Razia Zulfikar, Sister Zehra Kermali, and Brother Humayun Zaidi.
Prizes for the competitors were provided by Sister Zehra Kermali, and Imam Hasan Centre trophies were also presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners.
Presents for the judges were donated by Sister Razia Zulfikar.
Sister Sanober and friends would like to compile a recipe book with all your chicken entree recipes for fundraising. If you would like to contribute your recipe, please hand in to Sanober, or email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  She would like all recipes by the end of July. The result should be a terrific cookbook, if the competition entries taste as good as they appeared!
Thank you to all the entrants below, all the funds raised are for charity sponsorship of the Zaynabiya Child Sponsorship.


 
Chaand Raat Celebration PDF E-mail

Chaand Raat Celebration - 8.00 PM Wednesday 10th October - Ladies Section

The ladies will be holding a special “Chaand raat” festival on Wednesday the 10th of October. The festivities will commence at 8pm, with stalls selling clothing, jewellery, and handmade cards. There will also be mehndi/henna application for ladies and children on the night. The proceeds of all sales will go to The Fatema school India, so please be generous on the night!

Majlis will be held simultaneously in the Grand Hall.

Cooking Competition – Report by Zohra Aly

The ladies’ cooking competition was a runaway success, with the number of entrants far exceeding our expectations. We had 35 registered entries, with an additional 9 ladies coming in on the day with their dishes. Alhamdulillah, we have raised enough money to sponsor a child at the Fatima Orphans School.
The judges were the very capable Mrs Zehra Kermalli, Mrs Razia Zulfiqar and Mrs Shama Shirazee, and they did a fantastic job tasting and scrutinizing the desserts for taste and presentation.

The winners were:

1st prize Miss Sukayna Aly Sticky date pudding
2nd prize Mrs Iram Hassan Ali Shahi tukra
3rd prize Mrs Atiya Hassan Trifle

Prizes for the winners were donated by the judges and Hamida Aly.

We look forward to organizing a similar competition in future. In the meantime, happy cooking!
